I used to be your average otaku, maybe a bit cooler, but still sort of an otaku. I never got to the point where I would wear a Naruto headband to school, but I was close. But the Anime Club at my school sucked, and some senior convinced me that anime sucks.

Then I found Japanese Indie Rock. I got sick and tired of the pop idols I was listening to. Although I was listening to Asian Kung-fu Generation, Polysics, and Boom Boom Satellites, it wasn’t much. I didn’t like the VK stuff because I thought VK was stupid with all of that make-up and shit. But through AKG, I found Number Girl, Eastern Youth, and Sparta Locals. The eventually an indie site called Keikaku. I found plenty of good bands and now I’m mad cool. Tie in my obsession with the Japanese student riots of the 1070’s and my hatred of Japanese nationalism after I read the Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang, and you get this blog!
